Aakash 2 Tablet: Double the Performance, Still as Cheap

Aakash 2 Tablet: Double the Performance, Still as Cheap

The government of India sponsored the development of its first tablet, the Aakash. The $60 tablet was quite a success in its native land and has earned accolades from techies all over, so it is not a surprise the device will have a successor. The Aakash 2, like its predecessor, is a tweaked-up version of a DataWind Ubislate. In this case, it is the Ubislate 7+. For only 2,000 rupees (about $40), you get yourself a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen, Android 2.3, WiFi and GPRS connectivity, a 3200 mAh battery, and a 700MHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor.
