Opera updates two Android mobile browsers

Opera has not one, but two mobile browsers for Android-powered device owners to choose from, so it is nice to know that Opera decided to roll out upgrades for both – notching the version numbers to Opera Mini 6.1 and Opera Mobile 11.1. They are both ready for action over at the Android Market, with support for Google voice search thrown in alongside Google AutoComplete and Intelligent domain suggest. Those ought to make your search process faster, including when entering a URL, while providing alternative sites to check out just in case you were bored of flipping channels, deciding to surf random websites instead.

World of Warcraft Starter Edition lets you reach lvl 20 for free

If there was one thing that's keeping humanity safe from total enslavement to the grind of World of Warcraft, it was the fact that you have to pay to play the game for longer than a couple of weeks. Well, now we're all doomed. Blizzard is replacing its 14-day WoW trial with a so-called Starter Edition of the massively multiplayer life usurper, which lets you reach level 20 without shelling out a penny. Of course, like any good gateway drug, this freebie is capped at the thoroughly insufficient 20 number and is sure to agitate folks into buying the full product.

Tag Heuer's $6,700 Link Phone is a Froyo phone with alligator skin

As far as most of us are concerned, if we're going to pay a lot for a phone — you know, like, RM 2,000 on contract — it had better come with the latest works. We're talking a qHD display, dual-core processor, 8-Megapixel camera with 1080p recording, NFC, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a 4G radio, to boot. If you're someone who buys things made by Tag Heuer, things will be different though, as the priority is no longer the specs.

Fifth Gear pits McLaren MP4-12c against Ferrari 458 Italia

Fifth Gear pits McLaren MP4-12c against Ferrari 458 Italia

Fifth Gear's Tiff Needell and Jason Plato had a go at both the McLaren MP4-12C and Ferrari 458 Italia, testing each car for thrills and for precision. While both may seem to be winners in the pantheon of automotive excellence, only one can come off victorious. Both drivers render the same verdict, and it's the kind of final assessment you don't often get from motoring shows: one wins on paper, and then gets trounced once they discard the spec sheet and grab the wheel.
Well, what can you say? One makes cars for Jenson Button to drive at incredible G-force, but hadn't built any road cars for almost 15 years.

As analysts and investors jump ship, Macquarie sees opportunity in RIM

Following first-quarter earnings that sent investors and the media into a tizzy, analyst coverage of RIM has been fairly monotone. The consensus. The company is doomed. Sure, there's been an odd half-hearted vote of confidence here and there, but the majority of analyst coverage we've seen has been negative and investors are exiting en masse. In a 45-page report published last Tuesday, however, analysts at Macquarie Capital Markets paint a different picture of RIM's business. Despite product delays and declining market share, the firm issued an Outperform rating and set a 12-month target on shares of RIM stock at $40.

HTC Flyer launches in India, Rs. 39,890 for the 32 GB 3G version

HTC has officially launched its first ever Android-powered tablet, the Flyer, in India. The HTC Flyer, is, of course, one of the more interesting Android tablets, with its 7-inch screen and capacitive stylus. It's also one of only a few tablets running Android Gingerbread, and basically the only offering to come out this year from a big, well known Android manufacturer not to run Android Honeycomb. HTC has added its very own Sense UI on the Flyer, and even optimized it for tablet use, but it remains to be seen if people will consider it good enough.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo pre-orders start in the UK for £379.99, shipping August 4

While it has been available in Romania for about six weeks now, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo is still delayed in pretty much the rest of Europe (at least in the main Western European markets). However, today we have a rough idea of when the Xperia Neo will finally become available in at least one of those markets, the UK. Well known online independent mobile retailer Expansys has put the Xperia Neo up for pre-order. The price being asked is £379.99, which is a bit cheaper than what we saw in Romania, but still is (in my humble opinion) a bit overpriced.

When Nokia first unveiled its MeeGo-powered N9 recently, many believers of the Finland-based mobile brand hoped that MeeGo would be the start of its new era. In an interview with Finnish periodical Helsingin Sanomat, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop confirmed that the Nokia N9 would be the first–and only–MeeGo smartphone.
