Lamborghini invades Miami with Aventador parade, high-speed runs at airport (video)

Lamborghini is only starting to throttle the engines on its 50th anniversary celebrations. The company lined up fifty of its Italian jobs for a cannonball run down the south runway at the Miami International Airport, the Aventador Roadster breaking 200 miles per hour, then ran them all through the streets of Miami to be properly introduced to one of their most ardent clienteles. Contrary to the appearance of the image above, no airplanes had to wait to taxi behind the ground-based flyers.

Survey says more people trust independents than dealers for car repairs... do you?

A new survey by AutoMD.com finds car owners trust independent shops over dealerships when it comes to vehicle repairs. The site surveyed 3,000 owners online between November 2 and December 12, 2012, and 80 percent of the respondents said they felt they had been overcharged for repairs at a dealership, while 90 percent felt they could save more money by visiting an independent shop. But it's not just about savings, either. When asked who owners trust more to repair their cars, 67 percent said a private shop, while only 33 percent trust their local dealer.

Serbags Army Courier Vintage Bike Messenger Bag review

From the days of high school, through community college, til the end of college and when  I got my first real job after graduating college, I was an avid fan of the backpack. Not too much these days though… At my current job,  a backpack just doesn't feel professional enough for me.  Who am I kidding.  I don't feel like a backpack is fashionable enough for me….
When I first received the Army Courier Vintage Bike Messenger bag from Serbags, I thought it seemed kind of small. (The specs for this bag are 12.5″ x 12″ x 4.5″.

DOT sued over legality of digital billboards

DOT sued over legality of digital billboards

Tired of seeing those bright, digital billboards on the side of the road while driving (especially at night). Well so is a group called Scenic America that recently filed a lawsuit in an attempt to get the Federal Highway Administration to reverse a 2007 ruling that allowed these billboards to pop up along US roadways since. The advantage of digital billboards is that companies can sell multiple advertisements that change frequently, and it's this part of the billboards that are at the heart of this debate.

The Toyota Land Cruiser is a pretty hot model around the world. But it took the Russians to make it cool. We have few hard, cold facts and only small slivers of information about these photos, but it seems the icy Toyota was part of the International Snow & Ice Festival in Perm, Russia. Artists took a huge chunk of ice and shaved it down to the temporary art installation you see here. The sub-zero SUV comes complete with a full interior accessed by the (permanently frozen open) driver's side door. The steering wheel and seats look to be upholstered in, well, dirt.

We've known since mid-December that Infiniti's new global model naming convention would turn the current-generation G37 Coupe into the Q60 Coupe starting next year, but we haven't been clear on whether the model-range-formerly-known-as-G would get a successor, especially as its volume has traditionally been a lot lower than its sedan counterpart. Many factories and chemical plants have suspended production in Beijing in an attempt to curb dangerous pollution, according to the South China Morning Post. The air pollution is some of the worst the city has seen in years, with harmful PM2.5 particle rates hovering between 200 and 400 micrograms per cubic meter. That number is down from as high as 886 on Sunday. For contrast, the US Environmental Protection Agency regulations say PM2.5 concentration at any location be no higher than 65 micrograms per cubic meter, with average maximums not to exceed 15 micrograms per cubic meter.

Lexus is evidently dead serious about removing some of the starch from its collar, as evidenced by the boldly styled new IS sedan just unveiled here at the Detroit Auto Show. We didn't know what to make of Lexus' entry-level sport sedan when we first saw images of it earlier this week. Dominated by the gaping maw of a spindle grille and flanked by headlamps with Nike swoosh daytime running lamps, the photos showed a distinctive (if not completely cohesive) design. Having now seen the design in the metal, we have to admit it comes together better than it does on screen.

[CES 2013] G-Form has decided to use CES 2013 as the debut platform for its G90 case. Just what makes the G90 case so special. It seems that G-Form has finally perfected what they claim to be the "world's first case to truly turn any smartphone or iPod touch into a sports action camera." That is a pretty lofty claim, but then again, such a niche market segment does not have too many candidates, making the G90 case quite a standout on its own.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini Arrives In Four New Colors

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini was rumored in recent times to come with new colors, and while this tactic worked amazingly well with the Nintendo DS Lite back in the handheld console's heyday, it might not fare too well with smartphones. Still, you can never quite tell just when a particular marketing move will end up successful, can you. Here we are with word that the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini (i8190) will soon arrive in four new colors – namely black, grey, red and brown. This quartet of new shades will not be made readily available for purchase just yet, but they ought to arrive real soon.

The New Poster Child For Cheap Thrills. Let me tell you about a man named Larry. Larry works for a company called STI Fleet Services, one of a few companies that are responsible for the cleaning, prepping, maintaining, scheduling, delivering and picking up of the cars we test on a weekly basis, not to mention a whole slew of other duties. STI and its competitors are the silent heroes of this whole automotive journalism biz. Larry is one of the guys responsible for a lot of the grunt work – he's been delivering cars to me for nearly seven years now, and because of that, we've developed a bit of a rapport.
