RIM: first BlackBerry 10 devices to focus on mid-range and up, entry-level may be ready in 2013

RIM's Q2 earnings details have had a common theme of a silver lining to darker clouds, and that edge may have grown a bit brighter with hints of the company's longer-term BlackBerry 10 roadmap. When asked about the release strategy, CEO Thorsten Heins said that the first BB10 devices would focus on both the mid-range and high-end of the market, a bit wider than the chiefly high-end approach that has been rumored so far. While shy on details, he confirmed that the full-touch smartphone would have a screen with an HD resolution - that's higher than on the iPhone 5, the executive was eager to point out.

Evernote Smart Notebook hands-on (video)

The Evernote Smart Notebook is here. Well, almost here - it arrives on October 1 - but we got our Moleskin-lovin' hands on the app/notebook combo a bit ahead of schedule this evening. The combination works by combining the drawings, notes, and whatever other Moleskin-bound scribblings you pen with Evernote's iOS App (said to be headed to Android as well). Snap a pic of your best Mega Man sketch and see the Blue Bomber appear magically in your Evernote account and on your phone. If you're way into archiving, a handy set of stickers allows for quick tagging.

Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit tells Judge Koh to revisit Galaxy Tab 10.1 injunction

Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit tells Judge Koh to revisit Galaxy Tab 10.1 injunction

One of the hallmarks of the US judicial system is its seemingly inexhaustible system of appeals - a system for which Samsung is likely most grateful at the moment. Its earlier entreaty to Judge Lucy Koh to have the Galaxy Tab 10.1 preliminary injunction lifted may have been denied, but the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit is giving the Korean company another bite at the Apple. That court has granted Samsung's request to have the injunction issue remanded so that Will Judge Koh lift the ban. Perhaps, but we're pretty sure that the crowd from Cupertino will be doing plenty to prevent that from happening.
