Ultraman kitchen timer saves the bacon

Ultraman kitchen timer saves the bacon

Moms might turn into Godzillas whenever they potter about in the kitchen, only to realize that they have left the turkey in the oven for way too long simply because they have a thousand and one other things to attend to around the home. Now, the turkey could have been saved (and inadvertently, the Godzilla side of mom would not have surfaced) if you had bought her the Ultraman kitchen timer for Christmas. Japanese toy manufacturers Kotobukiya have announced the Ultraman Warning Light Kitchen Timer, where it was specially designed after Ultraman's warning light that is worn on his chest.

RIM's BlackBerry 10 is going to be what makes or breaks the company this year, and while it won't be released any time soon, the first image of what appears to be a BlackBerry 10 phone, the London, has found its way online thanks to the folks over at CrackBerry. The phone looks nothing like the previously leaked photograph; this time it features rounded corners instead of sharp edges. Not a lot of details were revealed in the slide, but according to RIM, the London should have a “dramatic shift in UI experience”, have exceptional power & efficiency, and will be the ultimate communication device.

Immobilizer Phone Stun Gun

Immobilizer Phone Stun Gun

I am not quite sure what you would make of this Nokia-like knockoff, but it is definitely worth carrying around if you tend to work late into the night, and have no one to escort you to your car or home. After all, it is always better to be safe than sorry, and carrying a pepper spray in your hand while you walk will definitely raise the alert level of anyone who intends to cause you harm – but if you were to tote around a phone in your hand, you might be able to turn the tables on your attackers – especially when the Immobilizer Phone Stun Gun is disguised as a phone.

Steampunk fans out there, how about adding another steampunk inspired Nerf gun to your collection. A while back we reported on a steampunk inspired Nerf gun, but if that was a little too big or too pricey for your taste, how about checking out a smaller and more affordable steampunk Nerf gun instead? . Nerf gun enthusiasts out there might recognize this particular model as the Maverick N Strike, but as you can see, it has been given a new coat of paint which supposedly is the "Victorian Apocalyptic" edition.

Galaxy Nexus benchmarked with possible OMAP4470, may get a decent upgrade in the graphic

This one is certainly far from confirmed, but it seems that there is a new model of Galaxy Nexus being tested in the wild which may have a fancy new updated CPU. At least, that's what some new benchmarks would have you believe. The benchmarks come from NenaMark, which is a benchmarking app available in the Android Market. As you can see in the device log, there are a number of Galaxy Nexus devices listed, and most are quite obviously the standard Nexus although most have custom kernels and overclocked CPUs. The standout is the device at the top, which is the only one listed as having the PowerVR SGX 544 GPU.

Car and Driver investigates how motorsports' HANS Device saves lives

It's common for people to consider the head and neck safety device, or HANS device, a millennial item, something developed ten years ago or so. But it was actually conceived after an accident in 1981 and the first prototype was donned in 1986. It sold only sporadically throughout the 90s, but after Dale Earnhardt died in a crash at the 2001 Daytona 500 – coincidentally, of the same injury that lead to the HANS device's creation – it went from oddity to obligation in every major racing series.

Artist uses rust as brush to paint cars

There's a thin line between patina and outright decay, and artist Bo Lundvang seems to understand that threshold all too well. He's created unique pieces of art using massive 40-inch by 20-inch sheetmetal panels wrapped in white vinyl. The artist cuts out the profile of his desired image, removes the negative and allows the metal to endure the elements. Once the panels have reached the appropriate level of patina, Lundvang seals the pieces in several layers of clear coat to prevent further deterioration.
