Could Samsung challenge Amazon with E-Ink Optimized "Daynote"?

The USPTO is our friend. When companies create new products, they get their product names trademarked through the United States Patent & Trademark Office, which makes these records public and searchable. Before a new smartphone or gadget is ever announced, we often see it's name pop up in these records. While they don't always tell the future, the latest trademark filing from Samsung has turned our heads.
Introducing the Samsung Daynote.

Get out your umbrellas and load up on salt, because I'm about to rain down the speculation.

Moto X pre-orders start at US Cellular, priced from $124.99, comes with free Bluetooth headset

The Moto X finally got official yesterday. And while it's going to be sold directly by three of the so-called ‘big four' carriers (Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint), a smaller carrier is in fact the first one to start taking pre-orders for Motorola's newest smartphone. We're talking about US Cellular, which was also on the list of carriers to get dibs on the Moto X. The handset is now up for pre-order over there for the already announced price of $199.99 with a new two-year contract.

However, there's a twist. If you're a new customer, you'll get a $75 ‘switcher bonus' in the form of a debit card.

2014 Toyota Corolla and Tundra production underway

After months of leaked photos and speculative reports, Toyota finally unveiled its 2014 Corolla to the world in early July at a star-studded California party. The confetti has been swept up and the champagne flutes washed and stored, and now the real work can begin: production. Toyota has announced that its new C-segment player has begun rolling off the lines at its plants in Mississippi and Ontario, Canada this week ahead of the planned start of sales in September. What's more, the refreshed 2014 Tundra pickup has also segued into production in San Antonio, Texas.

Android 4.3 kernel source released for HTC One Google Play edition

Android 4.3 kernel source released for HTC One Google Play edition

For the few that purchased the HTC One Google Play edition (seriously, did any of you?), you might be happy to know that Android 4.3 is on its way. While we don't have an exact timing on its release, we know HTC is hard at work on it after posting the Android 4.3 kernel source for the HTC One Google Play edition to HTCDev just a few moments ago. We've been getting quite a few reports of general 4.3 weirdness that's been afflicting some Nexus 4 owners, so lets hope HTC has all the bugs ironed out before it hits the HTC One.

Watch a semi-truck go airborne and explode on impact

Dash cams have caught some pretty amazing events on camera, as the unforgettable sights of the meteor that exploded over Chelyabinsk, Russia proved in February. As another example, a trucker driving through Greensburg, Indiana, had his dash cam rolling when another semi truck caught major air over a freeway before crashing down in a ball of flames.

2014 Porsche 911 GT3 (video)

The Bearable Lightness Of Being. Start with a standard Porsche 911 Carrera and its 350-horsepower, 3.6-liter flat six-cylinder engine. Bore a crepe-thin slice of aluminum from each cylinder to get to 3.8 liters, add a wider track out back and two extra exhaust pipes and voila, you can append an S to the Carrera's name. Hang two sets of wet, multi-disc clutches along its spine and you can make that a 4, or a 4S. Bolt on two forced-induction compressors and piping, add two fender vents and comically wide rear tires and you've redeemed your ticket to a Turbo.
