The Walkman ain't dead, Sony insists as it presents its latest mp3 player: its first Android-powered music player called Walkman Z1000. The Sony Walkman Z1000 first appeared in Japan last September, but the company had it redesigned to make it good enough for the U.S. market. The device features a 4.3-inch display, Android Gingerbread, access to Android Market, DLNA and microHDMI support (enabling it to play media on TV), and Sony S-Master MX amplifier. It is a bit larger than an iPod Touch or the first-gen Samsung Galaxy Player, enough to fit in the extra functionality, I suppose.
Units are expected to hit retail shelves in spring 2012.
