Sony is a champion of proprietary formats, and have been for quite some time already, especially with their Memory Stick format that has irked quite a fair number of Sony fans who wished at times that the Japanese company might be a bit more lenient and include SD memory card support in some of their devices. Well, today marks another momentous affair in Sony's long history with the release of their XQD memory card range.
