If you're a Foursquare user, you know users have complete control over what they share to other users and publicly. One thing its users won't have control over is the way the service displays your name through its service as Foursquare is announcing some policy changes today that will go into affect in 2013. One of the first major changes to the service will be how your name is displayed throughout Foursquare. Starting in 2013, your complete name will be made available for all to see, this includes both users of Foursquare as well as online.

Kia design chief Peter Schreyer named Hyundai-Kia President

Kia design chief Peter Schreyer named Hyundai-Kia President

Automotive News reports Peter Schreyer has been appointed the first non-Korean president of Hyundai-Kia Motor Group. Schreyer is expected to retain his role as the chief designer for Kia, while also taking on new, high-level executive duties. He is now one of three presidents at the automaker. The designer made a name for himself at Volkswagen, where he penned the 1998 New Beetle and lent his eye to the Audi TT. In 2006, Schreyer moved to Kia, where he quickly revised the brand's styling from bland, forgettable lines to bold, "tiger nose" creations.

Bill Gates's Children Banned From Using Apple Products

The Steve Jobs-Bill Gates rivalry is deeper than you think it is. According to Melinda Gates, the wife of the Microsoft founder, her children are banned from owning Apple-made products. During an interview with BBC Radio 4′s Today programme, Melinda Gates was asked if her three children – Jennifer, Phoebe, and Rory – ever tried asking her and Bill to get them an iPod. Melinda's response is interesting.
“Of course they ask. But they get Windows technology” she said.

Touchy Turns Humans Into A Camera

Touchy Turns Humans Into A Camera

So we have seen a Twitter-controlled cockroach in our earlier post, but what about a human camera. That might not make that much sense at first, as we would think that it has something to do with a human holding a digital camera in tow, but with the Touchy, it is a device that has some pretty lofty claims, that is, to turn anyone into a kind of human camera. Touchy is the brainchild of Hong Kong new media artist Eric Siu, where it is worn in the same way as a helmet and comes in the shape of an old school camera. The helmet itself will be attached to a tiny globe that is known as the Touchy Bulb.

Samsung GT-I9500/GT-I9505 could be a high-end Tizen/Android device

We know that Samsung has picked up the Tizen project and could possibly be launching a Tizen-based device in the near future, and according to the folks at SamMobile, they are claiming to have gotten their hands on the first model numbers of an upcoming high-end Samsung device. These model numbers are the GT-I9500 and the GT-I9505, with the latter suspected of being the LTE version of the GT-I9500. Supposedly Samsung used the GT-I9500 for its Tizen-based handset, which if true could suggest that the South Korean company could be close to launching its flagship Tizen device.

Chuggington Die-Cast 10-in-1 Layout Track Pack review

When I was offered the opportunity to review a toy train set, I thought it would be interesting to try it in conjunction with my expert team of train set testers - my sons, Franklyn (7) and Matthew (4). They willingly agreed to work with me on the project and share their feelings. In the past, they have played with wooden Thomas sets as well as electric train sets.  Trains are in their blood, as their grandfather has been a model railroader for decades and has constructed railroad layouts that have been featured in magazines and videos. When it comes to trains, there's no judge in the land that wouldn't qualify my sons as experts.

Decoding PIN Codes Is Easier Than You Think It Is, Says Report

Decoding ATM PIN codes might be easier than you think. According to data scientist Nick Berry, an estimated 26.83 percent of all PIN codes could be guessed by using 20 combinations of four-digit numbers. Berry, the founder of the Seattle-based technology consultancy firm Data Genetics, analyzed passwords from security breaches and discovered that there are 10,000 possible combinations that the digits 0 to 9 can have in order to form a four-digit code. Berry also found out that roughly 11 percent of the 3.4 million passwords he analyzed were 1234, while 6 percent of them were 1111.

AMG may be working up a new, small-displacement V8 for the C63. Autocar reports the Mercedes-Benz performance house aims to replace the naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 found in the brawny C-Class with a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. Autocar cites unnamed sources as saying the new V8 is built on the same modular bones as the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine headed for the A45 AMG and CLA45 AMG. Both engines share bore spacing and individual cylinder displacement as well as other specifics.
Drivers won't see a cut in power with the move, however.

Study: Apple Maps Three Times More Likely To Give Wrong Directions Compared To Google

Chances are if you aware of Google Maps on iOS, you're probably also very aware how much of a terrible experience Apple Maps offers users who just want to know how to get from point A to point B. One thing we weren't aware of was how Google Maps' directions compared to Apple Maps' attempt to give you correct directions. According to a study conducted by CrowdFlower, if you use Apple Maps you're three times more likely to get lost than if using Google Maps. In their study, they compared Apple Maps, Google Maps and Bing's direction-giving ability by picking 1,000 random business listings in the U.S. and 100 in the U.K.

Luc1 Motorsport does advertising right. Again.

Last year, Luc1 Motorsport rolled out a nine-minute-long video as a way to thank the team's sponsors for their support over the 2011 season. Now the crew is back with another supermoto infomercial, and while the 2012 clip may not be as intense as last year's, the video is no less entertaining. While our French is about as rusty some of the vehicles in our stable, the basic plot seems to follow Sylvain Bidart as he frantically races to catch a plane to make a race. After failing to run down his first flight on the runway, Bidart has to enlist the help of a private pilot, but not before scoring the man some much needed spray lubricant.

While we doubt that they will be able to offer the same type of clarity and tone one might expect from a high-end, audiophile-grade speaker, we believe that these speakers should be more than enough to get the job done. Apple's ‘Pinch to Zoom' Patent Tentatively Invalidated By USPTO

Apple might have won big time against Samsung in court, but now it seems that all the patent trolling are beginning to take its toll on the Cupertino-based technology giant. Just a few weeks after tentatively invalidating the so-called "Steve Job patent," the USPTO is now applying the same ruling to Apple's “pinch to zoom” patent, which is, by the way, a key factor to Apple's one billion dollar victory in August. According to a document issued by the patent office on Wednesday, all 21 claims of U.S. patent No. 7,844,915, also known as the “pinch to zoom” patent, were rejected by the USPTO after further re-examination.

A leak from Russian social networking site VK claims that Polaroid will be introducing a new camera soon. The camera would not be the usual device we expect from them, but a shooter that comes with a mirrorless interchangeable lens system and will run on Android. Polaroid has long discontinued its traditional instant-film cameras as it ran into different bankruptcy situations. The company signed an agreement with Summit Global Group in 2009 and Sakar International last January to produce digital still cameras slapped with the Polaroid brand.
