The race was originally scheduled for June 17, one week after the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal when the F1 circus is already in North America. However the possibility of moving it was first mooted a couple of months ago as race organizers were facing off against a vocal lobby bent on shutting down the event at Austin's city council. Having won the municipality's approval, the fear is that a June race would just prove too hot for race fans. The new date is November 18, when the teams are already sailing back across the Atlantic for the Brazilian Grand Prix.
