Android growth driven by “upgraders” rather than iPhone switchers

Analyst Kantar Worldpanel has released some interesting new research on the European mobile phone scene, which shows that 74% of new Android users are upgrading to their very first smartphone for the very first time – but only 1.4% of new Android users are coming to Android from iPhone. The analyst also says that the “tipping point” when over half of ALL phone users in the UK are on smartphones will come in the middle of 2012. Here's the graph:.
Very interesting to remember that smartphones are still well in the minority, even today.
