Let's just say it outright: Windows RT is a failure. The Microsoft Surface RT tablet, which was supposed to be the lead ‘showcase' device for this operating system, has never sold well. Microsoft itself had to acknowledge that recently. Other traditional Microsoft partners from the PC side are avoiding Windows RT. But apparently Nokia isn't.
Why any company would want to release an RT tablet after seeing the operating system's measly performance sales-wise so far is anyone's guess. Why Nokia, who isn't in a rosy situation itself, would want to be that company… well, actually that's pretty simple. Nokia needs a tablet, and fast.
